“Dude, thanks again for the great music tonight. [Wife] and I were talking on the way home about how thoughtful, intentional, and just artful your lyrics are. Your music has a beautiful depth.”
— A text from a friend, post-Ben Reneer concert.
Ben Reneer
fighting the forces of evil, one sad song at a time
Ben Reneer is a self-produced indie-folk singer and songwriter based in Phoenix, Arizona. Raised in the majestic Rockies of Utah, his songs make use of natural imagery and evoke introspection. He credits Peter Gabriel, Coldplay, and Pete Yorn with shaping his early appreciation for melodic storytelling. More current influences include Gregory Alan Isakov, Ryan (not Bryan) Adams, and Donovan Woods.
Although Ben passionately resisted his childhood piano lessons, his mother's persistence paid off; he may have won some battles, but she won the war. This passion eventually transformed into a sincere appreciation and discovery of a genuine love for composition and performance. In college, Ben studied industrial design, and now brings that background to his studio work - synthesizing a technical mindset with creative production.
With nearly 100 original tracks on Spotify, Ben’s music has earned attention from television producers, including placements of his songs “27 Years,” “Swallow,” and “Off My Mind” in Showtime’s Shameless and ABC’s The Good Doctor. He released his sixth album on December 19th, 2025, and more songs are on the way. Industry professionals seeking an artist whose live sets resonate with reflective storytelling and captivating melodies will find Ben a strong addition to upcoming lineups.
Ben will be one of 8 finalists at the Tucson Folk Festival's Stefan George Memorial Songwriting Competition on April 10 and 11, 2026.
